Winter Reach

I miss you like the first day of summer
The first morning you go barefoot outside
Waking up so early
Only to roll over and let my body abide
To the relaxation and sense of peace
That I thought only that morning could bring
When my only worry was the weather
And I could see the sunlight breaking in
While I hear the soft voices of family
And I await the arrival of good friends
Never worrying about my appearance
Or how the day was gonna transcend
Into another just like today
Although somehow a little less sweet
For that was the first breath of summer
Which is genuinely hard to beat.
I miss you like that morning
My lovely sunshine ray
I really just wish that
You weren’t both so far away.
