Whirling
By Matt Schnirel

Post it across the lines
Feelings that are caught in time
Transmitting so beautifully
Into the spinning memory of my mind

Like a feeling that's been locked away
Screaming out, "I want to play"
So it does a dance and twirl with a rhyme

You stood there so poetically
With a background fountain shooting dreams
Through the marble fingertips
You could not put down

When I get like that I think, "Is this a dream?"
Street lights become so serene
Summer nights
Seeming endlessly free

Sometimes you see it on stages
Sometimes you see it in the rain
Sometimes you see it when you least expect it

Whirling
With one foot on the ground
Hands straight out into forever
Smiling at the California night
Without any control
Seconds
Happy

I know what you mean
